The last step in the design process is the physical design, which maps the local conceptual schemas to the physical storage devices available at the corresponding sites.

What meaning of corresponding sites ? How look like in design ?

I'm not an expert, but I think it means that "corresponding site" is the physical place (on the WAN) of the storage device that will hold that particular local schema (and a local schema is the particular schema of a single DBMS that is a part of the global conceptual schema). –  Vor Dec 10 '12 at 14:39
See this is paragraph "The objective at this stage, which is the focus of this chapter, is to design the local conceptual schemas (LCSs) by distributing the entities over the sites of the distributed system. It is possible, of course, to treat each entity as a unit of distribution. Given that we use the relational model as the basis of discussion in this book, the entities correspond to relations.". So if you see correspond word that you understand there something correspond something else so here the sites corresponds what ? –  user1864163 Dec 11 '12 at 18:38
