Preparing for my finals in my "advance algorithms" course. In one of the previous exams, there was the following question:
Let there be some arbitrary data structure (it is not known exactly what the structure is). Give examples of forms of using the structure, so that in one form it makes sense to perform a amortized analysis (of the running times), and in the other form it does not make sense to perform amortized analysis.
This question is seems like very general. What would be a good answer for it? I guess this question asks us when should we use the amortized analysis and when should we not? (maybe use the worst-case analysis instead).
