I research the application of SIMD instruction set extensions to combinatorial algorithms (i.e. algorithms with strongly data-dependent control flow as opposed to numerical algorithms, which usually have largely data-independent control flow).

Other areas of interest include heuristic search, vintage computing, and SAT solvers.
